Practicing with play money

I like to practice online with play money, however no one else seems to actually practice with play money. I notice that they will bet and raise no matter what their hand seems to be. It is easy to bet on bad cards when the money isn't real because you really aren't risking anything at all. If this is how you practice then you are probably more likely to make bad calls when it comes to playing at real money tables. The best thing to do is play any play money table as if it were real money even though that can be hard sometimes, because you will want to call mediocre hands just to see if you get lucky. Do whatever it takes to make you think that you are playing with real money, because the last thing you want to do is turn a game of skill into pure luck. Make sure that you stick with your starting hand charts and know your outs. Try and keep a journal as well, make sure that you keep in it whether you are playing limit or no-limit, how many people are at the table, what seat you are in, what your pocket cards were, how you bet or if you folded and whether you won or lost. This will help you understand what you are doing right or wrong and what you might need to change about you betting style.
